More than 50 thousand of our citizens lost their lives due to the earthquakes that took place in Kahramanmaraş on February 6th. This disaster, which directly affected 14 million people in 11 provinces, made the hearts of all of us bleed deeply. On this occasion, once again I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster, my condolences and patience to their families, and a fast recovery to the injured.
Earthquake is a type of disaster that ranks first when it comes to loss of life and property in our country, and, thus, approximately 60% of the losses of life take place due to earthquakes. As we are unable to know the exact location, time, and magnitude of earthquakes, we can prevent further disasters by renovating risky structures fast.
After the completion of the search and rescue operations in the earthquake area, we participated in building damage assessment studies in Adıyaman in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change with our expert team of six civil engineers and four technicians. As a result of intensive study, we identified the damage level of 317 buildings and ensured the creation of their official records.
