According to the official records, every year around 270 million of occupational accidents occur. Unfortunately the construction sector is a sector where severe occupational accidents can be experienced a lot. Our sector is one of the major branches of the industry and our sector is in the scope of “Hazardous Work Regulations” and classified as “dangerous”. In accordance with the insvestigations we have made, we have reached into the conclusion that most of the deathly occupational accidents occurin our sector and we could not stay indifferent to that. That’s why, we have invited our Association Members to the Blue Helmet Occupational Safety and Health Awards Conctest. By the help of this contest we are going to do our part at minimum and we aim to prevent the occupational accidents in our sector, inform the facilities regarding to occupational safety and health, encourage them and measure the sufficiency of those facilities.
Işık stated that the occupational accidents ratio between the developed countries and the developing countries is huge and informed about the statistics as follows: “According to the Turkey Social Security Institution’s report, in the year of 2013, 1360 workers have lost their lives because of the occupational accidents while in the year of 2014 this number went up to 1626 which makes more than a %20 of increase. A research called “Occupational Accidents and Health Problems” that has been conducted on 2007 for the first time was contucted second time in our country in 2013. When the results of this research examined, one can understand that the construction sector with terms of work accidents in on the third place with a ration of %4,3.
