Yavuz Işık continued his speech as follows: “In 1988, the year Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) was founded, annually 1,5 million m3 concrete was being produced in our country and the production has been increased to 109 million m3 per annum. With this growth performance, Turkey has been the leader in concrete production in Europe since 2009 and the third biggest ready mixed concrete producer in the world after China and the US.
As THBB, we believed in improvement and progress and as a result of it, we brought the Presidency of European Ready Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO) to Turkey at the General Meeting held last year in Berlin. This way, we had more influence at ERMCO in which we had been acting as a member since 1991. Through this achievement, we acquired the power of being able to furnish the demands and agendas of the concrete producers in Turkey to the authorities in Europe. With such power, we seized the opportunity to have a voice about and contribute to the concrete policies made in the European Union countries.”
